Spineotic USA is a subsidiary of the Institut Proschlaf (Institute Prosleep) in the Salzburg Medical Center (Salzburger Ärztezentrum Schallmoos). In 1986 Director Hans L. Malzl focus a part of his families now 118 year old company on health and wellness. As a part of providing people with anything that was related to health, he soon became aware that sleep was central to health and the many people were not getting good sleep causing them to have poor health.
As a result of his awareness of the effect sleep has on health, he then turned his personal interest and focus toward sleep and pioneered an area of research he terms “Physical Sleep Research”. Physical Sleep Research is the study of the physical environment and it’s effect on the health and well being. Central to this research was the bed and pillow. This area of research differentiates itself from other areas of sleep research in that it focuses on what is needed to prevent sleep disorders and how to prevent them as much as possible rather what to do if a person has sleep disorders and how to treat those disorders.
At the time Dir. Malzl began his research he became aware that this was an untouched area of research and that he would be starting from scratch in these efforts. Dir. Malzl is now quoted in the media when they look for an expert on sleep issues. Dir. Malzl has uncovered some of the myths of sleep people hold true.
For twenty-five years Dir. Malzl experimented with various way to construct beds that would help people to sleep better and privately made custom made mattress for his clients. After twenty-five years of research he devised a way that mattresses could be customized commercially and sold through health care professionals and furniture stores who employed Certified Medical Sleep Consultants trained to help people in those businesses who could assess the needs of an individual to determine the mattress configuration needed for them to get good sleep.
Dir. Malzl’s custom made mattress is now sold in many small furniture stores health care establishments as well the Europe’s second largest furniture store, Lutz. Now after five years of success the Institute Proschalf has established a presence in the US with Karl Bennion as it’s representative. Mr. Bennion is also introducing the Austrian custom made mattress technology in the United States under the name Spineotic through the company Spineotic USA.
